Vizio VO320E Review

For a cheap LCD TV of this size, Vizio VO320E is able to deliver a pretty sweet deal. Its price is that of an inexpensive LCD TV, and its performance is a bit over the top for what is expected of it. While you will not get the same picture quality as you can see on more expensive models, you will still not regret the money spent. If you intend to use it as a PC monitor, though, you may be a little disappointed, but, for an LCD TV at this price, its performance as a HDTV is still fine.

Features

The native resolution of Vizio VO320E is 720p, the same encountered in many other cheap LCD TV lines. However, for a screen size of only 32 inches, you would have not got more detail even with 1080p, so it is acceptable for a step down model to have such a resolution. Picture controls are considered to be good for a HDTV in this league, and there are plenty of adjustable modes to go around. You can tell Vizio VO320E is a low entry model from the looks of its connectivity options. You will find two HDMI ports on the back panel, two component video, one PC input, two AV inputs (one with S-Video), an RF for cable or antenna, and one optical digital audio output.

Picture quality

While it cannot be said that picture quality on Vizio VO320E is the best, one can still remark, and it is one thing often stated by cheap LCD TV reviews, that performance does not lack, either. Accurate colors are the base for this statement, despite the light level of blacks, which usually affects the entire performance of a HDTV.

Black levels are far from being the best, as we mentioned earlier. However, they are not as light as seen on other low entry LCD TVs coming from LG and Panasonic. On the bright side, shadow details look surprisingly good, which is a plus for Vizio VO320E.

Color accuracy lends a touch of realism to the image, with great primary and secondary colors. Red can become a tad offensive, especially when it affects skin tones, and turning it down affects general saturation. Otherwise, colors look quite accurate and vivid, making for a great picture.

Video processing is nothing of the ordinary, as expected for a 720p LCD TV model. It can show properly high definition content, but you cannot demand it to deal with 1080p native signal, without setting its HDMI to make the conversion.

Screen uniformity is not an issue with Vizio VO320E, as it is able to show the best image even from more wide angles. It is even able to perform better than Panasonic models, and about the same as Sony low entry lines of cheap LCD TVs.

The matte screen of Vizio VO320E does its job and glare or reflections are not an issue when the room is filled with bright light. Obviously, it does better than plasma TVs, and its performance is on par with other matte screened LCD TVs.

If you intend to use your Vizio VO320E for watching standard definition (SDTV) programs and regular DVDs, you will congratulate yourself for making a good choice. The image looks sharp, artifacts are not visible, and its only down point is the fact that noise reduction is a little bit off.

Conclusion

Vizio VO320E is a cheap LCD TV that is able to provide quite a bit for the price charged. For a low entry series, you can get a lot in terms of picture quality, and, even if it is one of those 720p models, this does not mean that you cannot get decent high definition performance. All in all, this Vizio HDTV is worth spending your money on.
